Vegas 100: #4 New Residential Development
Hang on, sprawl lovers. According to local Sierra Club spokeswoman Jane Feldman, our best developments are the Downtown high-rise apartments brought to us by architect Rob Wellington Quigley and developer Tom Hom Group. Yup, right here near the El Cortez, Campaige Place opened last year. Two more on Las Vegas Boulevard—L'Octaine at Gass Avenue and Kirby Lofts at Hoover Avenue—are planned in the coming years. "These offer comfortable urban living," Feldman says. "They put people close to where they work, close to public transit, close to the places they want to be for culture and entertainment. And they are reasonably priced." The next two buildings, for even more convenience, will offer storefronts on the first floor. Building up instead of out? What a concept!
